Which Swim Program Is the Best Fit?

Safer Infants & Toddlers (Ages 6-36 months)

    This program introduces infants and toddlers to water in a safe and supportive environment. With a focus on water discovery, comfort, and early safety skills, it helps young swimmers—and their parents—build confidence in and around the pool.

    Learn to Swim (Ages 3 – 15 years)

    Designed for beginner swimmers who are not yet able to swim independently for 25 yards. This program focuses on building water safety, confidence, and strong foundational skills. We help both swimmers and their parents become safer and more knowledgeable around the water, while making real progress.

    Special Abilities (All Ages)

    For swimmers of all ages and abilities, looking for a teacher with specialized training who adapts their teaching methods and uses proven techniques to help swimmers of all abilities reach their full potential in the water.  This program provides personalized instruction to help swimmers with ADHD, Autism, Down Syndrome, or any other emotional, physical, or sensory challenge meet swim skill benchmarks more effectively and successfully.

    Stroke Development (Ages 5 years to Adult)

      This program is designed for intermediate swimmers who can already swim 25 yards independently but have not yet mastered the proper techniques for the competitive strokes. We focus on developing stronger, more efficient strokes—laying the foundation for improved performance and long-term swim success.

      Swim Team Prep (Ages 5 years to Adult)

      Designed for intermediate to advanced swimmers who are ready to take their skills to the next level. This program focuses on building endurance, refining technique, and developing the discipline needed for competitive swimming. Swimmers must be able to continuously swim at least 50 yards of freestyle and backstroke with strong form and complete all My Swim Buddy Blue Cap skill challenges.

      Adult Learn to Swim (Ages 16 & up)

      This program is designed for adult learners who want to feel safer and more confident in the water. Whether you’re new to swimming or looking to build basic skills, we focus on comfort, safety, and developing the ability to swim laps independently. Recommended for adults who are not yet able to swim 25 yards on their own.

      All teachers are trained to teach the My Swim Buddy Learn to Swim Methodology and often have one or more speciality ares that they have achieved additional expertise in. Please see teacher bios to learn more about our team of teachers and where they shine.

      If you are uncertain which type of class is best for your students, we advise that you review our Levels of Achievement. If the swimmer in question does not have the skills of a My Swim Buddy Orange Cap—Level 3—we highly recommend starting their swim journey with an Intensive session.

      A few examples of Orange Cap abilities:

      • Swim – Float – Swim independently for 30 ft
      • Jump in pool and float independently
      • Can swim to bottom of pool at 3 ft
