Special Abilities
Where Every Ability Finds Strength in the Water
Age Group: 6 Months -15 Years
Program Overview

Our Special Abilities program is thoughtfully designed to meet each swimmer where they are. Through adaptive, skill-based instruction in a calm and supportive environment, we prioritize safety, progress, and joy. With individualized guidance and patient coaching, swimmers build water safety skills, confidence, and lasting trust in the water—celebrating every success along the way.
Novice swimmers begin with the My Swim Buddy Curriculum which includes our Water Discovery & Comfort and Learn to Swim programs. Covering the first four Levels of Achievement, this foundational pillar builds water safety, confidence, and core swim skills in a supportive, engaging environment. Once mastered, swimmers graduate into the next four levels and officially become part of our advanced MSB Aquatics swimmers.
Choose the Right Fit
The best results come from the right fit. By considering each swimmer’s goals, experience, and comfort in the water, we create a learning environment designed for growth, safety, and long-term success.
ONE-ON-ONE
GROUP TRAINING
Private Lessons
Our private lessons offer fully individualized instruction tailored to each swimmer’s goals, experience level, and learning style. Whether building foundational skills, refining technique, or increasing water confidence, one-on-one instruction allows for focused progression.
Semi-Private
Semi-private lessons provide personalized instruction in a small group of 2–3 swimmers. This format allows for focused skill development, individualized feedback, and accelerated progress while still benefiting from peer motivation and group energy.
Group Class
Group lessons follow a structured, level-based curriculum designed to build water safety, stroke technique, and endurance. Swimmers develop skills in a motivating team environment that encourages confidence, progression, and accountability.
Group GuidedÂ
Group Guided lessons offer structured instruction with added independence, ideal for swimmers refining technique and building consistency. Coaches provide targeted feedback while encouraging swimmers to take ownership of their skills and progress.
Swim Frequency & Results
Real progress in swimming happens through consistent, purposeful practice. Attending lessons twice per week — whether through group classes, private lessons, or a combination of both — allows swimmers to build skills faster, retain techniques, and develop true water confidence.

Levels of Achievement
Our Learn-to-Swim program is built around a progressive 8-Level Colored Cap System, designed to develop confident, capable swimmers through measurable growth in our four foundations of water safety, breath control, buoyancy, and movement/stroke development.
Swimmers begin at Level 1 (White Cap), focusing on water discovery, comfort, and foundational safety skills. As they advance through Levels 2–4 (Gray, Orange, and Green Caps), swimmers gain stronger independence, improved breath control, increased endurance, and more advanced safety responses. At Levels 5–6 (Yellow and Purple Caps), swimmers refine body positioning, streamline technique, and begin formal stroke development while continuing to strengthen self-rescue skills. Levels 7–8 (Blue and Red Caps) emphasize swim team readiness, advanced stroke refinement, and sustained swimming ability with confident execution of safety and technique-based skills.
Each level builds on the last, and swimmers are expected to consistently maintain skills from previous levels as they progress—ensuring a safe, steady, and confident swim journey from beginner to advanced swimmer.
